The BIRDS (Basic Immediate Response Developmental & Sensory) Backpack - An absolute MUST for First Responders!
We are a special needs family AND a first responder family.
Steve has 18 years in the fire service as a volunteer - formerly Williamstown Fire Department and currently Washington Township Fire Department with Whitman Square. He has previously worked with both Monroe Township and Washington Township EMS and also in the Emergency Department at Kennedy Health.
We know the importance from both sides of the fence.
The light-weight backpack is able to be carried by a child/adult that is unable to carry things in their hands. It is filled with important items that can help first responders with those that have special needs during an emergency - especially if a parent or guardian is unavailable to be with them for a period of time or they are injured themselves.
Some of the items in the bag - noise cancelling headphones, dark sunglasses, sensory and fidget toys, a notepad with crayons, a weighted lap mat, a sensory chew necklace and a communication card with appropriate words and phrases for any type of emergency situation.
The more bags we can complete, the more vehicles that can be equipped!
Bags are 100% donated to emergency response departments at NO COST to them.
Bags will be delivered directly to each receiving department.
